• Concerns before treatment I wanted rhinoplasty for a higher nosebridge and less bulbous nose. This was primary rhinoplasty surgery. • How was it before getting treated? The doctor was a little awkward. He didn’t mention anything regarding deviated septum if I had any. I wish he did, or any other functional issues I may have add before performing the rhinoplasty. We only discussed how I wanted the nose to look. • Results Please do your research regarding Dr. Ryu. I would consider another clinic for rhinoplasty. Double eyelid surgery and facial contouring here was well done. My nostrils look extremely asymmetrical. One side is very narrow and it is hard to breathe. The internal support is also collapsing. The doctor provided no solution other than turbinoplasty and removing thickness on the columella. • Comments This review is solely regarding my rhinoplasty with Dr. Ryu Dong Wan. I came to Braun in February 2024 for my first plastic surgery experience. I underwent several procedures, including double eyelid surgery, facial contouring, and rhinoplasty. All my procedures except the rhinoplasty went incredibly well. I would recommend Braun for eyelid surgery and facial contouring. Esther, my mediator, was incredibly responsive and supportive throughout the process, both via text and in person. I truly appreciated her help, as this was my first time coming to Korea and my first experience undergoing surgery. I am not a confrontational person and hesitated to leave a negative review until now, but I feel it’s important to share my experience for anyone considering rhinoplasty with Dr. Ryu. After healing from my initial surgery, I noticed that my rhinoplasty was not progressing the way I expected. I was reassured to wait six months due to swelling and for the final shape to be “finalized”.I did not feel like there was any improvement at 6 months. I returned to Braun in Nov 2024 for a revision. Their solution was to remove some tissue from the narrow nostril to improve asymmetry and perform a turbinoplasty to improve breathing. I proceeded with this revision at no cost. After several months of healing, there was still no improvement. My breathing felt the same, and my nostrils looked the same. From an aesthetic standpoint, my nose looks normal and straight. However, structurally and functionally, I was not doing well. One nostril became extremely narrow, almost a slit, and my breathing felt significantly more shallow. When I look inside the narrow nostril, I can visibly see the silicone implant pressing against the septum and I’m afraid it will break through the tissue at any moment. The septum also looks quite deviated. I reached out multiple times afterward to ask if any other solutions were possible. Each time, the recommendation was the same: reducing the thickness of the columella to address asymmetry. I repeatedly expressed concern about my breathing difficulty, but no functional solutions were ever offered. I will be seeing another doctor in Korea who specializes in rhinoplasty revision and has expertise in addressing functional and structural issues. He told me that my internal nasal support was weakened during my previous surgery and that it will need to be rebuilt, along with addressing multiple issues that were not properly handled in my original rhinoplasty. I will have to spend an additional 10-15k for a revision. Braun wrote me an apology stating they do not consider this a “failed” surgery. I find this response to be very dismissive and arrogant considering how my nose ended up. They provided no real solutions after reaching out multiple times, and I went from having a normal nose to asymmetrical nostrils, breathing issues, and a septum that looks and feels like it’s on the verge of collapse. I may have already had a deviated septum coming into my primary surgery (not 100% sure), but any good rhinoplasty surgeon should be able to correct your functional issues and not just make your nose look pretty. From my experience, Dr. Ryu only focuses on cosmetic results, but lacks the expertise to work with the functional and structural technicalities of the nose. I cannot recommend rhinoplasty at Braun. I strongly encourage anyone considering rhinoplasty at this clinich to research Dr. Ryu Dong Wan thoroughly, as there are other reviews reporting similar issues to mine.
